The architect's house, on the outskirts of Munich, is occupied by a family with two children. It was built in 1990 in a modern yet homey style.
The situation before the new plans:
The kitchen on the first floor of the house, which has an open plan design, was separated from the living area by tall units. The materials: light maple floor, white walls, lots of glass and black steel.
The aim of the design was to create a composition that was purposeful and functional, modern and professional, yet which still retained a warm feel to it. The character of the typical architect's house had to still be reflected in the new design. The kitchen and living room needed to be associated more firmly with each other. A bar area became the focal point of the room. Ideal for quick breakfasts or lunches when the kids come home.
To highlight the contemporary architecture, the occupants and owners of the house decided there was only one solution - a 'floating' kitchen line. And it went without saying that it would occupy the front wall. It was here that the multi-functional wall, complete with aluminum panels, was positioned. In the area above the worktop, the horizontal features a row of shutter units. Functional boxes in the middle working area ensure superlative functionality.
The kitchen island with breakfast bar separates the kitchen from the living area, but keeps the kitchen line in view. Next to this are the wall-hanging tall units made from aluminum, in which the major appliances are accommodated. Mobile elements from the bulthaup system 20 range provide the finishing touches.
